Search for companies

Use the Company Search API to build account lists — one row per company, with the same filter object and the same workflow as Contact Search. Think of these endpoints as the company part of a contact record, deduplicated by RBID_ORG for search and export results. Ten matching contacts at one company produce ten contact rows, or one company row.

Choose the right surface

Both surfaces read the same underlying data. What differs is the grain of a row and therefore what a count means.

Searching for “software companies with 200–500 employees” on the contact surface returns every person at those companies. On the company surface it returns the companies themselves, each with a count of how many contacts you’d get.

Credits and plans

PAYG is Pay-as-you-go. AYCE is All-you-can-eat. AYCE includes unlimited company retrieval at 0 credits; request rates and per-request limits still apply.

Company fields have no contact email or mobile reveal surcharge. When using contact endpoints, available company fields are already part of the contact row; requesting them does not add a separate company-row charge. See Credits & Plans for holds and final charges.

Understand the data model

Company rows are built from the same contact data on the same load schedule. They carry the shared company fields, plus contact totals aggregated for you:

Company fields such as size, industry, headquarters, funding, and technologies are also available on contact endpoints, where you can combine them with person and job filters. Company description SmartSearch and look-alike filters work on both surfaces. The three totals above are company-only; use each surface’s column catalog to discover its supported fields. Company responses contain company fields, without individual person or job values. Company Preview and Insights accept company filters only; a _PER or _PAO condition, or job title SmartSearch, returns 422. Company Count, Export Estimate, and Export can also use person and job filters. They apply the filter to contacts, then select the distinct companies represented by those matching contacts. For example, you can count or export companies with matching VPs while keeping one company row per RBID_ORG. Contact totals on a company row describe all contacts at that company, not only the people who matched a role or location condition.

Use HEADQUARTERS_* for company address. CITY_ORG, STATE_NAME_ORG and COUNTRY_NAME_ORG hold a location the company operates from — sometimes the head office, sometimes not. HEADQUARTERS_CITY_ORG, HEADQUARTERS_STATE_NAME_ORG and HEADQUARTERS_COUNTRY_NAME_ORG hold the headquarters. LOCATION_COUNT_ORG tells you how many locations a company lists.The non-HQ location fields will become arrays of multiple locations in a future release. Filter on HEADQUARTERS_* wherever you need a stable, single answer.

Company counts are exact. A mode field is accepted and ignored. Optional contact totals can be omitted when the dataset lacks them. The contact totals answer the question that usually comes next: this many accounts, and this many reachable people at them.

Omit columns and you get a default set covering name, domain, website, size, revenue, country, and the two main contact totals. Same limits as contact preview: 1,000 by default, 50,000 maximum. With "includeScores": true on a SmartSearch filter, rows come back best-match first — which makes preview the fastest way to judge whether a description search or look-alike is aimed correctly.

Analyze a set of companies

POST /v2/contact/company/insights takes two of the four contact sections. reachability and freshness describe people, so they have no company analogue.

Match companies you already have

Company Enrich retrieves known companies using domains, linkedinUrls, and rbidOrgs. Send up to 10,000 distinct identifiers combined across all three lists, after normalization and duplicate removal. You can send 10,000 domains in one request. Adding 6,000 domains and 5,000 distinct LinkedIn URLs exceeds the cap and returns 400. PAYG reserves one credit per submitted array entry before deduplication, then settles one credit per returned match. Unmatched inputs add no row charge.

Inputs are normalized before matching, and matches is keyed by that form. For example, HTTPS://Stripe.com/ and stripe.com land on the same domain entry. RBID_ORG is included and can be reused as a seed. The same company supplied as a domain and LinkedIn URL can create two match entries and two PAYG row charges; prefer one identifier per company.

Find similar companies

POST /v2/contact/company/lookalike returns companies whose business resembles one you name, ranked by description similarity.

The standalone Lookalike endpoint returns the nearest other companies, excluding the seed. It accepts domain or rbidOrg, columns, and limit. The limit is 25 by default and capped at 200. The response contains the resolved seed rbidOrg and a matches list with each company’s similarity and match classification. The match and maxDistance controls belong to lookalike filter nodes. They are not options on this standalone request. To build an account list with other filters applied — size, geography, industry — use a look-alike filter leg with POST /v2/contact/company/count and /preview instead. See SmartSearch.

Export a company list

Start with Company Estimate, then start the export, poll, and download. Use the same filter, columns, and positive maxRows cap for the estimate and start calls. A forecast can be lower than the hold required to start.

Poll for status

Download the results

Stop polling on COMPLETED, ERROR, or CANCELLED. Keep polling through QUEUED, PROCESSING, FINALIZING, and CANCELLING. A completed export carries a downloadUrl valid for one hour.

Statuses, formats, compression, row caps, and cancellation all behave exactly as on the contact surface.
